WORKING AT FRENSHAM

One of the real differences about Frensham is our open, equal environment. There is no forced deference or demanded respect. We are all in this together. A strong basis of mutual respect and equality creates an innovative, lively place to work. We ask our teachers to be brave with their teaching and we ask our support staff to be more than just supportive. It's an environment that reflects many modern workplaces and allows our students to observe adults working inclusively together and to build their own confidence in working with adults and those in more senior positions.

Frensham Heights is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires its staff to share this commitment. All candidates will have a Safeguarding Suitability interview and child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, checks with past employers and a Prohibition from Teaching and Management Check. All posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

TEACHING STAFF

As a progressive school, our teachers will find an exciting innovative opportunity to really engage with the students. Their role is not just to disperse knowledge, but to instill lasting learning and skills. Beyond a specific subject, our teachers engage students in cross-curricular projects and social, moral and ethical discussions and above all create genuine, lasting relationships built on mutual respect.

As a cohesive community, it is just as important that our support staff are onboard with the communal vision and ethos of the school. There are many events throughout the year, not to mention lunchtime everyday, where students, teachers and support staff come together.
