Frensham Heights Students Earn Their Place on the CyberCenturion Podium!

After initially battling it out against 500 teams over two intense rounds, Frensham Heights Sixth Form team made it to the final of the CyberCenturion competition and are incredibly proud to announce their phenomenal achievement of placing 3rd!  CyberCenturion, an initiative aimed at 12–18-year-olds in the UK, is designed to excite, educate, and motivate students to pursue further education and careers in STEM and cybersecurity, which helps to build a diverse talent pool to supply the UK’s workforce needs.

The Frensham Heights Computer Science students were tasked with identifying and solving security vulnerabilities in Linux based operating systems in an allotted time frame.  “This is a huge achievement for the students who showed resilience, determination and teamwork skills and I could not be more proud of their achievement”, said Sarah Cull, Head of Computer Science.  “The competition has helped the students develop technical skills that they can use in the future and has inspired them to consider cybersecurity as a potential career choice”.  The final was held at the Salford Quays Media Centre and was hosted by STEM Learning and Northrop Grumman.
